Who Is Jonn Casey?
You may be wondering who is this crazy guy who owns all these snakes, spiders, and other creatures and goes around talking about them and encouraging his audience to touch, hold, and experience these creatures first-hand. His name is Jonn Casey and he is a teacher, biologist, and all-around funny guy.
Jonn's program is a favorite of school children, scouts, and adults in the Northwest Missouri area. Jonn has presented programs for libraries, summer school programs, scouts, county/town fairs, museums, Super Science Saturday at MWSU, Camp Quality, birthday parties, and many others. He makes numerous appearances on KQTV and is often featured in the St. Joseph News-Press.
The Casey's Creatures program educates people about animals in a fun and exciting way. The squeals that Jonn often elicits from his audience are from pure delight rather than from fear of the many live creatures Jonn presents. Jonn has furs, bones, shells, antlers, and many other parts of animals, as well as live snakes, lizards, arachnids, cockroaches, etc. for hands-on learning and interaction. The animals Jonn brings vary from program to program based on the inventory he currently has and any theme the program may have.
Jonn has won numerous awards for education, including:
* MWSU Education Department's Outstanding Secondary Junior Experience Student Teacher 2000
* President of the Psi Xi chapter of Beta Beta Beta (National Biological Honor Society) 2000, 2001
